3 Reasons to Immediately Replace a Broken Side Mirror
Whether it’s a biker, someone driving a bit too close to your car, vandalism or you misjudging distance, there are several ways you can find yourself with a broken side mirror. No matter how it happened, it’s best that you have your mirror repaired as soon as possible. Here are three solid reasons to immediately tend to your side mirror.
1. Driving With a Broken Mirror Isn’t Safe
Your vehicle’s mirrors are essential for your (and everyone else’s) safety. With a broken mirror, you have a harder time seeing what’s on the road behind you. Sure, you can just turn your head and look over your shoulder, but you’re sure to notice how much safer and easier it is to have an intact side mirror. Additionally, you may have gotten so used to your mirror helping you note your blind spot that you forget you had a blind spot in the first place.
2. You Could Get a Ticket
Depending on the state you live in, there’s a chance you could be pulled over by the cops for having a broken side mirror. Specifically, some states require drivers to have two side-view mirrors. If a police officer sees you driving with a broken mirror, you may be pulled over and given a ticket. Should that happen, you’ll have to pay the ticket as well as the price for a new mirror.
3. The Glass Could Shatter
Even if your side mirror just has a single crack, it’s still best to take care of it ASAP. The crack compromises the overall integrity of the mirror, and something as simple as slamming the car door too hard could be all the mirror needs to shatter completely. If that happens in a parking lot or the street, it could pose a serious public safety risk.
Hopefully, you never have to deal with a broken side mirror. If you do, you have three reasons to have it restored immediately.
