PREVENTION
Avoiding exposure to direct sunlight and practicing sun safety is the best way to lower your risk of Skin Cancer. That does not mean you have to live your life indoors, nor even change much about your lifestyle. It just takes a few simple modifications to help avoid this deadly disease:
- The sun’s rays are the strongest between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Avoid exposure to the sun during those hours.
- Be sure to follow the rules of Slip Slop Slap!
- SLIP ON A SHIRT
- SLOP ON SUNSCREEN
- SLAP ON A HAT
- Protect your eyes and the surrounding skin by wearing sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB absorption
- Sunscreen doesn’t protect from all UV rays, so don’t use sunscreen as a way to stay out in the sun longer.
- Also make sure to follow the safe sun rules during cloudy days because sun can go right through the clouds..
- Avoid Tanning beds and sun lamps. Not only are they dangerous, but they damage your skin and can cause cancer.
- Last but not least, and because we spend so much time in our cars, getting your windows tinted is a phenomenal way to protect yourself from Skin Cancer.
Window Film has been proven to block at least 70% of the sun’s harmful rays that directly go through your windshield. Many people in Arizona have their windows tinted for this specific reason, although the aesthetics are a great bonus!
Since not all Window Film is the same, you should make sure to use a qualified Autoglass Company when making all decisions about window tint.
