Car Care After PPF Installation – Expert Advice & Tips

Your car is a big investment and the best way to protect that investment – and keep it looking great – is to have Paint Protection Film (PPF) installed. PPF installation protects your car from environmental damage such as fading and sand pitting from dust storms. It also protects your vehicle from road debris and chemicals, preventing your car’s paint from being scratched and damaged. It is nearly invisible and long-lasting but, to keep it that way, you must properly care for your vehicle. 

How to Care for a Vehicle After PPF Installation

 

• Wash your car regularly but carefully.
  • It is important to regularly wash your car because it helps maintain your car’s appearance, especially after PPF installation. But, it is important to use a gentle car wash soap, as harsh chemicals can damage the PPF over time. Avoid using abrasive materials like sponges or brushes, as these can scratch the Paint Protection Film and cause it to peel. Additionally, it is highly recommended that you hand wash your car to avoid potential damage from automated car washes.
• Be gentle when drying your car.
  • After you’ve washed your car, be sure to dry it carefully with a microfiber towel or chamois rather than a rag. This will prevent water spots from forming on your PPF without damaging your car during the drying process.  
• Avoid parking under trees.
  • Whenever possible, avoid parking under trees where your car is more susceptible to things like tree sap or bird droppings causing damage to your car after PPF installation. If parking under a tree is unavoidable and you notice tree sap or bird droppings, be sure to clean them off as soon as possible to prevent damage to the PPF.
• Wax your car with wax designed for Paint Protection Film.
  • Waxing your car can help to protect the paint protection film and keep it looking its best. But, it is essential to use a wax that is specifically designed for PPF because some waxes can contain harsh chemicals (Naphtha and Kerosene) and dyes that can damage the film.
