Many people these days are interested in getting window film of some sort, whether it’s a car, a home, or even an office building. For most of us, it’s often hard to be presented with a variety of different types of window tint options because we don’t completely understand what all those percentages mean. It seems like, the more different options we have, the harder it is to decide on a film & shade for our office or vehicle. Here is an overview of a few of the basic principles behind window tint shades and percentages.
WINDOW TINT BASICS:
You will find a variety of main window tint brands that you simply want to watch out for when gathering information about window tint. There are a large number of different brands on the market, but if you’re searching for a quality product and service that will last the entire duration of the life of your vehicle, & contains a lifetime warranty, you definitely need to look for top notch brands such as SunTek CXP, SunTek HP, and 3M.
These 3 manufacturers are the most reputable in the industry. and also provide a quality tint that will last for the entire duration that you own your current vehicle.
So the Big Question is: WHICH PERCENTAGE OR SHADE OF TINT is right for you?
Once you start to do your window tinting research, or even if you have had a car or building tinted in the past, you realize that there are many different options or shades. Each shade of film has a corresponding percentage, which tends to be extremely confusing the the normal customer who has not been exposed to this before. This represents the customer that wants tint, but has yet to get it because they don’t know how or what to get.
To break this down in simple terms, the % shade associated with every kind or shade of tint is directly related to the amount of light that passes through the tint.
For example, if you have a 5 percent film, that means that only 5 percent of sunlight will be allowed to enter through the glass of the tinted area. This is often referred to as “black out film”
If you have a 30 percent shade, the window will only allow 30 percent of direct sunlight to pass through the glass. It’s up to you to decide what shade is best for you and your vehicle, but the trained technicians at AGD Auto Glass & Tint Co. will certainly guide you to choose the best option for you.
All states have unique laws and/or regulations about placing window tint on your vehicle, so be sure to read more on the laws specific to Arizona before you have your windows tinted. You can read more about those laws here
